Dr Yahya is a consultant psychiatrist (GMC Specialist Register for General Psychiatry) who qualified with his medical degree from Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry. He has a background in physical medicine and is a qualified medical doctor. He is a general adult and old age psychiatrist. He has proven success spanning psychiatry and clinical leadership, combined with a strong academic background with nearly 30 peer-reviewed publications to date. Dr Yahya has researched new and emerging treatments associated with psychiatric disorders, as well as issues associated with neuropsychiatry, brain stimulation therapies, leadership, management and occupational medicine. He has built his career in a variety of roles with specialist experience treating individuals with severe and enduring mental health problems and overseeing the provision of Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT). Dr Yahya has experience working with the full range of mental health problems that arise in adulthood and later old age. He proactively champions oversight of holistic medical care through evidence-based practise. He has worked in specialist settings including neuropsychiatry, eating disorders, old age psychiatry, learning disability, primary care liaison, perinatal psychiatry, palliative medicine, sleep medicine, forensic psychiatry and psychiatric intensive care. Dr Yahya is trained in neurological sub-disciplines, including management of seizures, movement disorders and autonomic neurological disorders. He has extensive experience in psychological therapies and integrates a variety of modalities which include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), EMDR and Emotional-Focused Family Therapy into his clinical practise.
